The NBA is trying to bring intrigue to All-Star Weekend and this year’s All-Stars have been split into four teams to showcase a new format. Shaquille O’Neal, Kenny Smith, Charles Barkley, and Candace Parker will lead their own teams in a mini tournament this time around. While more teams and games will make picking an outright winner more difficult, there appears to be a clear edge worth taking advantage of now.

Parker’s team will be composed of the players who win the four-time Castrol Rising Stars mini tournament, so it makes sense that they have the worst odds at +650 at BetMGM. The NBA’s future stars will have to win more games and aren’t quite at the level of the All-NBA level competition they’ll face. That narrows the field to three teams with a chance to legitimately win it all.

Shaq’s OGs (+140) are the favourites and they of course have a really strong narrative to win it all, but also read my Charles Barkley code as they have a narrative, and if they do Wemby may win the MVP at +900, as it will be a perfect opportunity for Shaq to put him over. Shaq’s team will easily be the most bet on team to win it and will benefit from being led by LeBron James. James has won five of his previous seven All-Star game appearances and is surrounded by snipers. The team will be undersized because Anthony Davis has been ruled out with an injury, but Kyrie Irving will join a group that includes Stephen Curry, Jayson Tatum, and Kevin Durant. It’s hard to argue that any team can compete with this group on paper.

King Charles was recently coronated though and Charles Barkley’s team (+180) could beat Shaq’s team in the final, led by King James. Shaq vs Chuck makes so much sense to meet in the final due to their rivalry and friendship and we know the NBA is a production

Cleveland’s area code is +216 and Lebron was drafted by Cleveland and he won the 2016 NBA Finals with Cleveland, vs Steph Curry’s Warriors. Steph is +500 fav to win the MVP, and the game is in Chase Center, which is home stadium of the WARRIORS, so makes sense for him to star; especially with the war numbers

Victor Wembanyama at +900 is intriguing as he was born on the 4th day of the year and this is a 4 team format, and Giannis is injured for his team, so he may see extended minutes, and the NBA is looking to build him as a true superstar
