Psalm 127:2

Psalm 127:2
2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.

Rising early.
Sleeping late.
Working endlessly out of fear and anxiety.

The scripture says it is vain.

Not because hard work is wrong but because a life driven only by worry will never produce peace.

“Eating the bread of sorrows” is when a person labours every day but carries stress, fear and pressure in their heart.

God never designed life that way.

The verse ends with a powerful truth:
“For so He gives His beloved sleep.”

Meaning:
When you trust God and do your part faithfully, He gives you rest, peace of mind, and assurance that everything does not depend on your strength alone.

Work hard.
But don’t carry the weight of the world on your shoulders.

Some battles are won through trust, not exhaustion.
